Ethics committee asks Sealaska to present internship details amid questions over approvals

Chair Anderson noted AS 24.60.080(h), which permits a legislator to accept the services of a legislative intern who is participating in an educational program approved by the committee if the services are used for legislative purposes. Several members suggested that reviewing the supporting documentation used for the First Alaskans internship would help identify required information for Sealaska’s application.
Skip Cook and Representative Kevin McCabe offered that follow-up could happen outside a full meeting in some cases, but Chair Anderson recommended inviting Sealaska to a future meeting to present program particulars. Administrator Reeve was asked to review documentation from prior internship approvals to identify necessary elements for Sealaska’s submission.
