The Elyria City School Board voted unanimously July 15 to name Mike Gebhardt as its delegate to the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) Capital Conference and to designate Brent Parker as the alternate. The board also approved conference attendance for Gebhardt, Annie Carstoffin and Parker.
The board discussed costs and delegation size before taking the vote. Chair (speaking to the group) said members could decide whether to send multiple representatives or only the delegate and an alternate. One board member noted the conference costs “anywhere from 10 to $15 for us to go,” and members agreed minimizing travel would save the district money.
A motion to appoint Mike Gebhardt as delegate was moved and seconded and approved by roll call, with all voting members recorded as “aye.” The board then moved and approved a separate motion to authorize Gebhardt, Carstoffin and Parker to attend the OSBA Capital Conference in Columbus.
The board did not record additional conditions on attendance or travel arrangements at the meeting. Treasurer Colleen A. Molt said she will book hotels for the three board members who will attend and follow up with details.
