The Ashe County Board approved several contracts and budget amendments during the meeting.
Patty presented a $249,050 contract with Peak Heating and Cooling LLC to repair the Riverview facility’s HVAC system to current North Carolina building code, noting the work will be paid from insurance proceeds. Commissioners approved the contract.
Patty also requested a $31,498 budget amendment, again from insurance proceeds, to repair Riverview bathrooms; the board approved that amendment.
On parks infrastructure, staff requested a budget carryforward of $116,650 from the prior fiscal year to complete the Ash Park tennis court resurfacing project. Staff said vendor quotes totaled about $102,000, with an earlier grant of $26,650 from the Asheville Tennis Association contributing to the project. Commissioners approved the appropriation; staff said the extra carryforward provides contingency and any unused funds would return to the general fund.
Next steps: staff will execute the Peak Heating and Cooling contract, complete bathroom repairs, and proceed with procurement and scheduling for the tennis court resurfacing project.
