The Circle School District Board approved several policy updates, accepted revised handbooks and endorsed a district emergency action plan that includes SRP drill language and a cybersecurity planning effort.
Board members voted on second readings and adopted policies (including Policy 21'65 and Policy 31'50) as part of old business. Staff described updates to handbooks, added crisis-response language and referenced a model lightning-safety policy from the state athletic association.
Chair explained the district will use an SRP protocol that standardizes drill language across grade levels (hold, secure, lockdown, evacuate, shelter) and provided examples of age'appropriate classroom lessons and a drills calendar. The district will place a binder in every classroom containing rosters, a communication plan, parent-reunification instructions and maps to evacuation and reunification sites (including Wind Rivers and the Catholic church), and will test Remind as a staff communication tool.
On cybersecurity, staff said they ran phishing and data-security quizzes for teachers and will continue to refine a written cybersecurity plan to comply with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA). The board noted that documentation of discussion and training will be maintained as part of the district's safety compliance.
Board members approved the policies and asked staff to return with any additional adjustments at future meetings.
