The Lafourche Parish Council voted on July 14 to approve task order number 4 under an existing Hurricane Ida project-management contract with Elos Environmental LLC, amid councilmember questions about scope and prior payments.
Councilmember Abbey said he had requested deferral previously and asked how many projects remain under the contract and how much the parish has paid to date. The parish president replied that five structures remain under the firm’s purview — the historic courthouse, the district attorney's office/court complex in Thibodaux, the sheriff's office, the coroner's office and some remaining annex punchlist items — and argued that in‑house staff are already fully loaded with roughly 13 public‑works projects, so outside project‑management support remains necessary.
Councilmember Ehrb (questioning budget control) said some projects are still in design and suggested looking for opportunities to reduce duplication. Council discussion included a request that administration provide the total paid to the consultant to date; the president said that number was not on hand but that staff would provide it.
After discussion the motion to approve the task order passed 7 yays, 1 nay (Mr. Araby), and 1 absence (Mr. Pierce). Council directed follow-up reporting from administration and the project manager on progress and weekly reporting to key staff.
