Columbus council picks DIS Technologies camera system for four city sites

The presenter said, “For an investment of $20,000, we could get all 4 locations and get some good, good security cameras set up,” and noted the only ongoing expense would be connectivity at two sites, roughly $150 per month, plus a $350 per-year maintenance fee and a 3-year warranty on the cameras.
Council members asked about installation, warranties and repair response times; staff said installation is included in DIS’s quote and that on-site repair could require an hourly service fee (quoted at about $165). The council also discussed connectivity options for remote sites—Starlink for some locations and Spectrum for others—and whether live monitoring would be staffed or used on an as-needed basis.
Dennis moved to select DIS Technologies; Rick seconded. On roll call the council voted in favor of the DIS option and the motion carried.
The purchase funds are part of the capital improvement planning discussion on updating cameras at targeted public facilities. Next steps include finalizing procurement paperwork and scheduling installation with the vendor.
