Kindred raises facility rental rates and approves up to $7,000 for Barley Days

The Kindred City Council approved revisions to the Memorial Building and City Hall rental policy and authorized event support funding for the Kindred Community Club’s Barley Days event.
Council Member Ronningen proposed splitting the community partnership category into two groups — local resident/community groups and non-resident for-profit organizations — and increasing daily rates. The council approved the new rate schedule effective July 1, 2026; existing reservations with agreements and payments on record will be honored.
Jamie Swenson of the Kindred Community Club requested city support for the Barley Days festival scheduled for Aug. 7–9, 2026, asking for council presence at the hospitality tent, portable toilets, roadblock assistance, extra garbage services, design/printing/postage, tasting-event security and new streetlight banners. Council approved up to $7,000 to support the event; council noted the estimate for all costs was $5,000–$7,000 and that a local resident, Mark Ottis, offered to sponsor tasting-event security.
The motion to fund up to $7,000 passed by roll-call vote.
