Killdeer commission approves multiple street and drainage projects, wayfinding signage

The Killdeer City Commission on Jan. 20 approved a suite of public‑works projects and moved ahead with engineering and construction planning for several streets and drainage projects.
City Planner Scott Harmstead presented the city’s wayfinding signage plan, and the commission approved Phase 1—directing SRF Consulting to prepare plan sheets for bidding for eight off‑Highway 22 signs within city limits. Commissioners also approved Highlands Engineering Task Order #7 for $193,250 for the 2026 Rodeo Ridge Street Project.
Commissioners authorized proceeding with Highlands Engineering on the Dakota Street Drainage Project (estimated construction cost $168,597) and the Lincoln Street Drainage Project (estimated construction cost $88,798). The commission added the golf course parking lot (estimated $140,000) to the citywide 2026 chip‑seal project; Commissioner Cindy Hanson thanked the commission on behalf of Medicine Hole Golf Course.
Separately, the commission approved a $12,075 purchase of a trap thrower from Metro Gun Club and approved a 2026 fire protection service agreement with NOVA Fire Protection for the Mountain View Shooting Complex at an annual cost of $1,760. All motions relating to these projects passed on unanimous roll‑call votes.
Staff indicated they will explore a potential Dunn County cost‑share for the Rodeo Ridge Street Project and will return with any proposals for intergovernmental funding.
