Commissioner Chris Fenstermaker made the motion to schedule the meeting, which passed on a unanimous roll‑call vote.
The commission also tabled consideration of a purchase agreement from Wolfe Properties offering $450,000 for 2.5 acres comprising Lots 3, 4 and 5 and part of Lot 2 in Block 21 of the HWBL Addition. Commissioner Jeff Fair moved to table the agreement and Commissioner Greg Nordsven seconded; all commissioners voted aye.
Marketing and Communications Director Tyrel Brown reported on a Jan. 17 public information meeting regarding the proposed grocery store, summarizing turnout and public comment forms submitted to the city. The commission scheduled the special session to review location options and public feedback in greater detail.
No formal site selection or sale took place on Jan. 20; the tabling motion pauses action on the Wolfe Properties offer until the commission reconvenes. The special meeting is intended to allow additional public input and further staff analysis of the competing site options.
