Commission accepts consent agenda, approves $3,400 Oak Street survey; parks events announced

At its Jan. 20 meeting the City Commission approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from the Dec. 16 meeting and General and Water Fund disbursements and deposits for December 2025. Commissioner Caitlin Bolender moved to accept the consent agenda and Commissioner Blaze Drinkwine seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Randy Huckabee was absent.
Separately, the commission accepted a proposal from D.C. Johnson to survey Oak Street for $3,400. Commissioner Blaze Drinkwine moved to accept the proposal and Commissioner Sasha Madden seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The motion record in the minutes notes the proposal and the unanimous result but does not list individual roll-call votes.
Parks Commissioner Blaze Drinkwine announced upcoming community events: a Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. and Market in the Park on Feb. 14. He also said the parks department is preparing grant applications intended to increase security in city parks.
Water Commissioner Sasha Madden asked the commission to memorialize the city’s leak-adjustment administrative policy in the municipal code to ensure ongoing observance. The commission agreed and directed City Attorney Gerald T. Buhr to examine how to codify the policy. No ordinance language was drafted at the meeting.
