Killdeer commission approves two mall-parcel offers, tables Wolfe Property and Hinrichs decision

On Jan. 29, 2026, the Killdeer City Commission approved two purchase offers for parcels at the Killdeer Roundup Mall and postponed decisions on other properties while assisting a prospective grocer in its site search.
Commission President Logan Wallace opened the special meeting at 5:00 P.M. and confirmed that Commissioners Cindy Hanson, Greg Nordsven, Chris Fenstermaker and Jeff Fair were present. Community Development Director Teresa Presser and several community members attended; two participants joined online.
The commission met with Bronson’s Marketplace representatives Logan Kessler and Kim Kessler to review potential locations for a new Bronson’s grocery store in Killdeer. Possible sites discussed included the current NDDOT location and the Wolfe Property (described in the minutes as Lots 3, 4, 5 and part of Lot 2 of Block 21 in the HWBL Addition, between NAPA and Big George’s Liquor along Gumbo Loop). The commission directed city staff to assist the market representatives in their continuing location search and thanked them for their work at the current site.
The commission then addressed recent purchase-offer activity for the Wolfe Property. The minutes record a $450,000 offer for about 2.5 acres of the Wolfe Property; Commissioner Jeff Fair raised the possibility of vacating a portion of Gumbo Loop as part of that discussion. Commissioner Chris Fenstermaker moved to table further discussion of the Wolfe Property offer and related purchase agreement; Commissioner Jeff Fair seconded. The motion carried on a roll-call vote with all commissioners recorded as voting aye.
The body considered available Killdeer Roundup Mall parcels with Community Development Director Teresa Presser. Commissioner Chris Fenstermaker moved to approve an offer of $95,000 for the parcel associated with CHI St. Alexius Health; Commissioner Jeff Fair seconded and the motion carried with all voting aye. Commissioner Cindy Hanson moved to approve an $85,000 offer for parcels belonging to Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing; Commissioner Fair seconded and the motion carried with all voting aye. Those two approvals represent $180,000 in authorized offers for mall parcels.
Finally, Commissioner Jeff Fair moved to table consideration of a potential offer for the Hinrichs parcel at the Killdeer Roundup Mall until the current lease agreement could be reviewed; Commissioner Greg Nordsven seconded and the motion carried with all voting aye.
Having no further business, Commissioner Chris Fenstermaker moved to adjourn; the meeting was adjourned at 6:07 P.M. Minutes are recorded as subject to review and revision.
