Council approves routine business, schedules second monthly meeting and plans staff retirement luncheon

The Sopchoppy City Council handled several routine items April 13. Councilman Lewis made a motion to approve the March 9, 2026 minutes (seconded by Westmark); the vote was recorded as 3–0 before Vice Mayor Edwards joined the meeting. The council also approved financials and adjustments by signature.
Clerk Ashley Schilling said staff plan a catered luncheon and a gift to honor Mike Porter’s retirement in May after 34 years of service. The council agreed to move the previously approved second monthly meeting from the fourth Monday at 3:00 p.m. to the fourth Tuesday at 3:00 p.m., beginning in May 2026. Public Works Director Seth Green reported that staff are ready to install an exercise pod at Depot Park.
With no further business, Vice Mayor Edwards moved to adjourn at 7:31 p.m.; Lewis seconded and the meeting adjourned 4–0.
