City Clerk Ashley Schilling told the council she had received an appraisal from Carroll Appraisal valuing the SHS library building and property at $135,000. Attorney Cox advised the council that a new Florida statute prohibits a municipality from selling property for less than the appraised value without justification; because the appraisal listed needed repairs, the property would have to be sold at the appraised value unless the council documents a justification to accept a lower offer.
Attorney Cox recommended sending the appraisal to Craig Steinle to confirm whether he remains interested in purchasing the property at the appraised value. Clerk Schilling said she will forward the appraisal to Mr. Steinle.
