City greenlights SEH for vulnerability assessment work and to pursue Safe Streets grant

The Sopchoppy City Council approved a supplemental agreement with SEH for a vulnerability assessment, instructed SEH to continue planning for a Hwy 319 water-line upgrade, and authorized pursuit of a $300,000 Safe Streets 4 All grant with a 20% match.
Alan Hart of engineering firm SEH presented a Supplemental Letter Agreement related to the City of Sopchoppy Vulnerability Assessment project; the council approved the agreement by majority motion. SEH told the council it has begun planning for a water-line upgrade on Highway 319 and will present related action items at the April 27 meeting.
Hart also described a Safe Streets 4 All grant opportunity: $300,000 with a 20% match. Hart said the match could be satisfied in part by Council and staff time, meetings, workshops and mileage. Vice Mayor Edwards moved to allow SEH to proceed with the Safe Streets grant application; Westmark seconded and the council voted 4–0 to authorize SEH to apply.
Hart and SEH staff, including Jana Williams, also met with SHS Alumni President Callie Quigg to tour Sopchoppy High School and pursue a grant to renovate the final wing needing restoration. The council’s approvals permit SEH to continue planning and pursue external grant opportunities; specific project designs, local match obligations and construction contracts were not decided at this meeting.
