The clerk recorded candidate totals as: Kya Mayfield, 798 votes (23.5%); Frank Fender, 786 votes (23.2%); Frank Tediscus, 644 votes (19.0%); John Tompek, 613 votes (18.1%); and Johnny Colson, 550 votes (16.2%).
The clerk also read referendum results into the record. The town commissioner eligibility measure passed with 1,481 votes (94.7%) and 83 no votes (5.3%). A forfeiture-of-office question passed with 1,400 votes (91.8%) and 125 no votes (8.2%). A transportation regulation measure passed with 1,277 votes (83.3%) and 256 no votes (16.7%).
After the clerk finished, the chair asked for a motion to approve the election results. A commissioner moved to approve the results and the chair seconded. Town Clerk April conducted a roll-call; the commissioners present voted to approve the results and certify the returns.
The approval follows the clerk's reading of the unofficial totals; the commission did not report any formal challenges to the tallies during the meeting. Commissioners and participants noted differences in turnout and vote totals across referendums during a brief colloquy but raised no formal objections. One participant remarked on variations in referendum totals and referenced the content of specific items, noting phrasing such as "no taxes on drays" and an offhand comment about "wheelchairs." Those remarks were observational and did not prompt a formal challenge.
The commission also discussed next steps around the swearing-in of incoming commissioners and related ceremonial plans at a future meeting. The clerk will maintain the official record and follow up on any required certification steps. The meeting adjourned after brief announcements and reminders.
