After objections about missing inventory, Ely council certifies 49.27 miles of public roads for fuel tax

At a 5:30 p.m. public hearing, the Ely City Council certified the city's mileage for fuel-tax purposes under NRS 365.550, recording total public-road mileage of 49.27 miles (35.13 paved; 14.41 gravel).
Resident George Chachas told the council the submission packet did not include the full road inventory (beginning/ending points and lengths) required by NRS 365.550 and asked the city to supply the complete database to NDOT. City Engineer B.J. Almberg replied he could provide the GIS files that include the start and stop points and other details the state requires and said the only change this year was a 0.15-mile correction after spot checks. After the hearing Councilman Dennis Perea moved to approve the certification and Councilwoman Michelle Yeoman seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Why it matters: NRS 365.550 requires a certified inventory when a municipality seeks fuel-tax distributions; a public commenter asked that the city submit the full road database to NDOT. The council approved the mileage certification despite the request for additional documentation and Almberg's offer to provide GIS files.
