The Open Space Advisory Committee on Feb. 26 reviewed a Township Committee request to consider purchasing a 108-acre parcel at the corner of Decker Pond Road and Airport Road and decided not to pursue acquisition.
Louis Caruso said the Township Committee had asked the advisory committee to review “a property that is for sale (108 acres) on the corner of Decker Pond Road and Airport Road.” After discussion, the committee’s consensus was not to purchase the parcel.
The committee handled routine business before that discussion. Peg Phillips moved and Steve Slota seconded approval of the regular-session minutes from Feb. 5, 2025; all members present voted in favor. Earlier, Steve Slota moved to excuse absent members Richard Conklin and John Lynch; Peg Phillips seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
At 7:33 p.m., Peg Phillips moved and Louis Caruso seconded that the committee enter executive session to discuss the County Connector Trail. The committee returned to public session at 7:46 p.m.; no public action or vote on the trail was recorded in the minutes.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:46 p.m. following a motion by Phillips and a second from Bob Olivier. The committee scheduled its next meeting for April 2, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. Patty DeClesis, the open space secretary, is listed as the meeting’s recorder and signed the minutes, which were later approved on June 4, 2025.
