Council hears SEH roads model, moves ahead on well rehabilitation after 1,500 gpm result at well 7

At its May 11 meeting the city council heard from Alan Hart of SEH that staff are entering local roads into a system model to identify the best use of available grant funds and that SEH expects to present a recommendation to the council at its June 23 meeting. Hart said SEH is advancing rehabilitation plans for wells 3 and 4 and is evaluating alternatives in the event Eden Springs does not renew the well 4 lease.
Public Works Director Seth Green told the council that drilling an extra 60 feet at well 7 yielded about 1,500 gallons per minute. Green said samples have been taken and a sulfur odor may need to be addressed before the well is placed into service.
The council did not take a formal action on the wells or the roads model at the meeting. SEH’s June 23 presentation is the next scheduled step for the roads-prioritization work; staff and the city attorney continue work on the Eden Springs lease while the council considers the eventual recommendations.
The council also approved routine financials and several unrelated motions during the meeting; no deadlines or funding amounts beyond ‘grant funds’ were specified for the roads model in the meeting record.
