Megan McGrath (3718 Spring Street) spoke during the public comment period on March 24, urging the Council to review Archdale's fowl ordinance. McGrath said she had researched regulations in surrounding communities and found that many permit backyard hens. "Many communities permit backyard hens and that most residents are not opposed to a change in the ordinance," she told the Council.
Mayor Lewis Dorsett explained the public comment procedure and there was no additional public opposition or support spoken at the meeting. The Council did not take immediate action on the request; public comment was recorded for consideration. Staff or Council members may place the issue on a future agenda if they determine further review is warranted.
