ARCHDALE — The Archdale Planning and Zoning Board on Jan. 5 voted unanimously to recommend rezoning 0.6 acres at 703 Ashland Street from Guilford County RS-5 (Single Family Residential) to Archdale R-15 (Single Family Residential).
Planning Officer Matthew Talbott presented the staff report, saying, “The applicant, Cassandra Griffin, is seeking to rezone .6 acres of land at 703 Ashland Street from RS-5 (Single Family Residential - Guilford County) to R-15 (Single Family Residential - Archdale). The reason for the request is to be able to tie into Archdale Sewer which is also required to apply for annexation into the City.” Talbott added that the parcel is surrounded by single-family homes and that the request is consistent with the Future Land Use Plan designation of Suburban Neighborhoods.
Chairman Scott Greene opened the public hearing and asked whether anyone was present to speak in favor or opposition; the record shows no public speakers on the item. With the public hearing closed and no substantive discussion recorded, Vice-Chairman Larry Linthicum moved to recommend approval of the rezoning; Brent Kinney seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The staff report notes that annexation into the City of Archdale is a requirement for the applicant to connect to Archdale sewer. The Planning and Zoning Board’s action on Jan. 5 was a recommendation; the transcript does not record subsequent steps or final action by any other governing body.
Other routine business at the meeting included approval of the Dec. 1, 2025 minutes and adjournment. The Board listed no additional items for follow-up at the Jan. 5 meeting.
