The Archdale City Council on Jan. 27 approved a voluntary annexation, R-15 rezoning and connection to the city sewer line for the property at 703 Ashland Street.
Planning Director Jason Miller and Planning Administrator Matthew Wells told the Council that the parcel is approximately 0.6 acres, contiguous to the city limit, and that sewer lines run adjacent to Ashland Street. Mr. Wells said staff had given preliminary approval and that Public Works will supervise the contractor-selected connection.
Councilman Roger Blackwell moved to approve the sewer-connection request; the motion was seconded by Councilman William Wood and approved unanimously. Mayor Pro Tem Kelly Grooms then moved to approve the voluntary annexation and rezoning to R-15, finding the application consistent with the City'9s Future Land Use Map (Suburban Neighborhoods) and Plan Archdale; that motion was seconded by Councilman Blackwell and approved unanimously.
The Council record notes the parcel measures 26,136 square feet, is bounded by Liberty Road and Ashland Street, and meets R-15 dimensional requirements. The annexation and rezoning will formalize municipal service eligibility for the property and allow the planned sewer connection to proceed under City supervision.
Staff did not identify any outstanding appeals or conditions beyond the standard annexation process and the project will proceed under normal permitting and inspection requirements.
