Darren, the city staff member presenting the item, described the request as routine and said the closure would affect a few parking spaces behind the business. "This one is pretty straightforward," he said.
The chair told the committee he had spoken with Mayor Helvin Slaven, who recommended approval because the event has occurred in her former aldermanic district without problems. Darren noted similar parking closures have been used for prior events such as St. Patrick's Day parades and other downtown gatherings.
The chair moved to approve the permit "as presented," and Everett seconded. The committee approved the permit by voice vote with no recorded oppositions or abstentions.
The committee did not attach special conditions beyond the standard permitting requirements. Staff flagged that the closure would occur late afternoon into the evening and that the applicant had not reported prior issues. The committee then proceeded to the next agenda item.
