The Questa Independent Schools Board of Education on Aug. 7 adopted its 2024–25 Special Education Handbook and approved several vendor and service agreements for the coming school year while tabling a proposed activity bus contract for later consideration.
Vice President Jose Lovato called the regular meeting to order at 6:09 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. After routine roll call, the board approved the meeting agenda and the minutes of the July 2, 2024 regular meeting by unanimous vote.
The board formally approved the district’s 2024–2025 contract agreement with White Sands Drug & Alcohol Compliance after a motion by Member Juan Cisneros and a second by President Jason Rael. A roll call was taken and the motion carried with board members voting in favor as recorded in the minutes.
Later in the meeting, Vice President Lovato moved to approve the district’s 2024–25 Special Education Handbook of Procedures; Member Juan Cisneros seconded and the board approved the handbook unanimously. The transcript records that ancillary services such as speech therapy were discussed but no action was taken on the speech therapy item; the social worker position was reported filled in-house.
