Questa administrator reports hiring, MVD audit and Taos Bakes update; mayor outlines DOT work, forum

Administrator Karen Shannon updated the council on several operational matters at the Aug. 27 Village of Questa meeting.
Shannon said the village has hired a new Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) clerk and that a recent MVD audit went well overall but identified a few items that need correction. She told the council she has moved her office into the chambers and invited council members to a Latir Community meeting. Shannon also reported that Taos Bakes requires a gas line relocation; she said Taos Bakes will use the facility only for distribution and not for production.
In matters from the mayor and councilmembers, Councilwoman Louise T. Gallegos said a coworker is maintaining Molycorp Field for baseball. Mayor John Anthony Ortega reported he heard back from the Department of Transportation and that DOT will reduce signage in the village, is working on a crosswalk, and plans flashing signs. Ortega also announced a business forum scheduled for Sept. 16 in the chambers and that Water and Natural Resources would like to hold a committee meeting in Questa.
