Residents ask Jackson County to show materials, list NGO funding and consider local business support

Sean Greenwood asked whether the county could provide "a listing of all of the NGOs that we are paying something to," suggesting the county consider matching grants or loan programs that would support local small businesses rather than large outside contracts.
County staff and commissioners responded that staff can extract NGO payments from the budget and email listings to interested residents; staff noted some grant carryover funds are restricted to their original purposes and cannot be reallocated. Lindsay Dara, participating on Zoom, clarified that security upgrades completed last year accounted for much of the drop in building maintenance spending, estimating that work saved approximately $240,000–$300,000.
No formal action was taken during the workshop; staff committed to share the requested information and to make materials available to improve public access.
