During the Sept. 3 Portal City Council meeting, Auditor Kaydee Smith reported public works metrics and a maintenance issue affecting the storm lift station.
Smith reported water use for the month of August as recorded in the minutes (the transcript shows the figure as '718,00 gallons', a formatting anomaly), and listed pump runtimes as Pump 1: 25.2 hours and Pump 2: 21.9 hours. She reported that the seal in Pump #2 at the storm lift station failed; ND Pump & Lift was notified but will not be able to inspect the equipment for a couple of weeks.
Smith also reported passing NDSU Extension pesticide program courses in Ground Core, Public Health, Ornamental Turf, and Right of Way, and noted that Steve installed new front tires on the lawn mower. She told the council she will attend a Hazardous Mitigation meeting on Sept. 17 and that she will be on vacation from Oct. 28 through Nov. 4.
The minutes record the pump seal failure and the delay in vendor response as operational items needing follow-up; no replacement date or cost estimate was provided in the transcript.
