Portal council declines personal phone listings on website, clarifies assessment and next steps

Mayor Lisa Smith told the council that G. Sjue is creating a city website and had asked whether council members would allow personal cell numbers to be posted. Council members declined to list personal cell numbers; they agreed the city office number and the mayor's cell number may be listed instead. Council also declined to pay for a new sign for the website but agreed the website address could be added to the new city office sign when produced.
Ted Hawbaker asked why he was charged a water-tower special assessment on his tax statement for lots in town. Mayor Smith and the council said Hawbaker has been charged for the assessment for years and that it originated from a special assessment taken roughly 20 years ago to pay for the water tower.
The council discussed 90-day delinquency notices and directed Auditor Kaydee Smith to place notices on two residents' doors. Year-end transfers were discussed and the auditor will prepare transfers for approval at the February meeting. The meeting adjourned at 4:49 p.m.
Bills for December and January were reviewed with line-item amounts recorded in the minutes.
