Pick City discusses boulevard trees, water meter upgrade and landfill cleanup week

Council member Bather reported on a recent visit with North Dakota Forestry Service, which identified issues with boulevard trees and recommended removing a plastic barrier from an evergreen windrow north of town to promote tree growth. Forestry Service also outlined potential funding options and recommended the city consider forming a Tree Committee to oversee tree work and funding applications.
Public Works Director Jim Sailer reported a new meter was installed at the water plant. Council recorded a motion (Reiser moved, Bather seconded) not to renew the city’s membership in the Water Users Association; the motion carried. Sewer flushing for the season was completed. Landfill cleanup week was scheduled for Oct. 6–12; staff and residents were encouraged to participate on the posted schedule. A supplemental notice attached to the meeting packet from Circle Sanitation asked residents to mark the inside of their tote lids with a paint-stick pen to help identify owners.
These operational updates were presented as informational items and actions that staff will implement as part of routine maintenance and service delivery.
