Board accepts treasurer report, renews prevention contract and waives October EMS installment

The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors on July 20 reviewed financial reports and took several related actions: it accepted the treasurer’s semiannual report dated June 30, 2026; renewed a contract with Pathways for school prevention services with increased hours; authorized up to $10,000 from county corporate funds for public health prevention programming; and agreed not to request the October 5 EMS installment payment from the six 2080 cities at this time, opting to reassess on Oct. 19.

Treasurer Ryan reported the county was roughly $3,000,000 ahead of where it stood at the end of the prior fiscal year, noting capital project receipts and interest income contributed to the balance. “We’re in about $3,000,000 from where we were at the end of last fiscal year,” Ryan said during his presentation.

The Pathways contract was renewed with increased hours (noted in the record as an increase from about 150 to 280 hours and a corresponding increase in contract dollars). The board also authorized up to $10,000 from corporate funds to support public health prevention efforts.

Regarding EMS funding, staff reported a current balance of about $521,106.60 and flagged upcoming expenditures (ambulance down payment, annual insurance). After discussion the board voted to send letters to the six participating cities stating that no October 5 payment is requested now, reserving the right to request payment in January if needed.

Next steps: Treasurer’s report will be published; Pathways contract will be executed; county will notify cities and revisit EMS funding on Oct. 19.
