Stack said the district received an estimated 16% response rate to the district survey about a 4-day school week and referenced a University of Montana study that recommended against four-day schedules. He told trustees many operational questions would need to be addressed before any change, including classified employee hours and wages, department-head and principal schedules, route contractor contracts, before- and after-school study programs, and extending daily instruction time if required.
Trustees discussed the issues and directed staff to gather additional information; the board agreed to discuss the topic further at a workshop in January. No formal action was taken at the Nov. 13 meeting.
