Bloomfield School Board approves minutes, one attendance agreement and September warrants

Bloomfield, Mont., Sept. 16, 2024 — The Bloomfield School Board approved minutes from its Aug. 15 meeting, accepted one student attendance agreement and approved the district’s September warrants at a regular meeting Monday evening.

County Superintendent Deanne Smith presented three student attendance agreements and the board moved to approve one and acknowledge the other two. Board member Shawn Walker made the motion; Board member Natalie Mullet seconded and the motion carried.

The action matters because student attendance agreements can govern where and how students enroll and attend within neighboring districts; the board took a routine administrative step to approve one agreement and formally note the other two. The board did not record a roll-call tally in the minutes; the minutes state the motions “carried.”

Teacher Katie McGinnis told the board she has three field trips planned and said she needs help on Mondays to cover a half-hour lunch recess. The board agreed that the person covering lunch may also serve as Katie’s substitute when needed.

Clerk Stacy Whitmer updated the board on an ongoing workers' compensation audit and noted an upcoming ESSER closeout meeting with Deanne Smith and the Office of Public Instruction (OPI). Board member Natalie Mullet said she will obtain a quote for sound-dampening panels for the school.
