Boulder council adopts two budget amendments, clears routine business and hears community updates

The Boulder City Council met Nov. 18 and dealt with routine and time-sensitive items, adopting two budget amendments and taking several procedural votes.

Key votes: the council adopted Resolution 2024-11 (a budget amendment for pool repairs and a nominal adjustment to the Boulder Revolving Loan Fund) after a public hearing with no public comment; it also adopted Resolution 2024-12 to account for an ambulance invoice related to a Lucas device. Both resolutions passed by recorded motions and carried with four aye votes. The council also approved acceptance of a Montana Main Street grant if awarded (motion by Drew Dawson, seconded by Mike Taylor, carried 4–0).

Other business included an engineering update on the city’s water projects, a staff report that HDR has billed previously for wastewater SCADA work (no contract was signed at the meeting), and a community presentation about a Thanksgiving Turkey Trot fundraiser for the local food pantry. Stu Goodner said the pantry serves 37 families monthly, plans to assemble 32 Thanksgiving boxes, and faces operating costs of about $3,000 per month; the Turkey Trot is scheduled for Nov. 28 at 9:30 a.m. in Veteran’s Park.

Public comment included a request from resident Kyle Stein to appeal a Board of Adjustments decision and seek placement on the Dec. 16 agenda. The council authorized payment of checks #17886–#17924 ($50,423.57) and ACH payments #99665–#99672 ($53,940.38). The meeting adjourned at 7:09 p.m.; the next regular meeting is Monday, Dec. 16, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.
