Board of Regents approves policy revisions and a rule on withholding student records

Todd Buchanan, chair of the Board of Regents, opened the July 10 meeting by welcoming the new student regent and new campus leaders and by reviewing the day’s agenda. The board approved the March 13 minutes and moved quickly through consent business, including emeriti items for several faculty members.
Regent Dean Folkvord moved to approve a package of policy revisions identified as ITEM 219-101-R0725; the board voted unanimously to approve the item (7-0). Interim Deputy Commissioner Joe Thiel described the second action, ITEM 219-102-R0725, as a revision that “incorporates the Commissioner’s Directive into board policy.” Regent Carter Jasper moved approval of ITEM 219-102-R0725 and the board approved the revision unanimously (7-0).
The meeting included introductions of Montana State University’s new president, Dr. Brock Tessman, and Montana Tech’s new chancellor, Dr. Johnny MacLean. Rachel Green, policy director for Governor Greg Gianforte, delivered brief remarks and also welcomed the new student regent. The public comment period produced no speakers.
