Greenberg board approves appointments, event closures and seeks forensic audit proposals

During the Sept. 10 meeting the Town of Greenberg approved a series of personnel appointments, event permits and routine budget and public‑works items. The board appointed Edie McCarthy as town assessor (six‑year term effective Oct. 1, 2025), Nicholas McDermott as personnel manager and confirmed other advisory‑board appointments. It also approved various neighborhood road‑closure resolutions for fall events and authorized standard contracts for indexing building records and engineering consulting.
A key governance item, TB5, directs staff to seek proposals from firms to provide forensic audit services to examine financial records and identify irregularities for 2020–2023; the motion passed by voice vote. Several items relating to special counsel and an outside contract were held over pending additional information. The board also approved a number of smaller settlements and tax‑refund resolutions.
