Planner presents retaining-wall and tree‑protection measures at Hightower public hearing; record kept open

At a public hearing on Sept. 17, the Town of Greenburgh Planning Board heard a presentation from project engineer Greg Cacciapoli on proposed rear-yard retaining walls and tree-protection measures for the Penn Catterson Terrace property (case PB2503).
Cacciapoli said the revised plans call for plywood sheets over tree root zones with a bed of wood chips beneath to spread equipment loads and prevent root compaction; the applicant added chain-link tree protection in place of orange construction fencing and included fall-protection fencing atop retaining walls. The applicant confirmed equipment specifications and that the application otherwise remained unchanged from the previously submitted materials.
Board members asked whether the fall protection applied to both walls and confirmed that the applicant had added the detail on sheet 2. After limited board questions there were no public speakers. The board voted to close the public hearing and keep the written record open through Monday, Sept. 22 to allow additional written comments before the item is scheduled for decision at the board's next meeting.
The hearing record will be reviewed with the supplemental materials the applicant provides by that date.
