Student Senate previews 'Tiger Fest' and board recognizes athletic milestone

Addison Medina, the student representative to the Raton Board of Education, presented the Student Senate’s plans for Tiger Fest, scheduled for the week of Jan. 20, 2025. Themed “Alice in Wonderland,” the week will feature themed dress-up days, a gym movie screening, an afternoon Rowdeo, an assembly honoring royalty, varsity basketball and wrestling events, and a Saturday dance and mum presentation. Study hall will be available Wednesday through Friday for students who choose not to participate.
President Jason Phillips thanked Medina for her report and congratulated her on achieving 1,000 two-season career assists and on the team’s top-six finish at the state tournament. The board received the report as part of its recognition agenda and did not take any formal action on the student activities report.
Why it matters: Tiger Fest is a student-led series of events that spans extracurricular, athletic and community activities; board acknowledgment highlights student involvement and school spirit leading into the winter semester.
