Raton Board approves project-management contract, NMDOT grant, janitorial supplies and Edmentum licenses

The Raton Board of Education approved a series of procurement and grant actions at its July 30 meeting.
Business manager Myra Baird presented the financial report and budget adjustments and asked trustees to approve a series of requisitions and bids. Trustees voted 5-0 to approve the financial report and transfers and to accept a $31,187 NMDOT grant (Resolution 2024-04, for parking-lot work and some street paving) after discussion about possible alternative uses such as football-field repairs.
The board also approved a janitorial-supplies bid totaling $10,189.06. Trustees approved a requisition to AE Capital for project-management services for FY24/25 in the amount of $146,764.77; Baird said the contract will cover district projects including boilers and fire alarms and will include engineering services for the new campus design phase.
Superintendent Kristie Medina described EdOptions Academy, a virtual high-school program for students unable to attend regular classroom settings. She said there are 15 slots (5 enrolled, 5 tentative, 5 available) and that the program costs $2,500 per student. The board approved the Edmentum requisition by a 5-0 vote.
Each motion that passed was recorded with a mover and seconder in the minutes and received a roll-call or voice vote as noted in the official record.
