Ramah board approves extra dumpster and mulching days, confirms Pioneer Day booths and posts transfer-station job

At its June 10 meeting the Ramah Water and Sanitation District approved several items aimed at town beautification and community events and moved to post a part-time job to staff the transfer station.

Whitney River-Croley moved and Shawna Grassie seconded a motion to schedule an extra dumpster delivery by July 2 using last year’s pricing and to hold limb-mulching days. The board agreed on mulch fees of $20 per truck bed (branches under 6 inches) and $30 per 12-foot trailer; the motion carried unanimously.

The board set Pioneer Day booth rental at $10 and authorized rentals to begin the next day, and it approved renting two port-o-potties from the vendor used in 2024 for $287.55. The chairman asked that three museum-facing spots be marked with cones on Pioneer Day so booths are not placed there. The board also resolved to notify the farmers-market organizer that market vendors must pay for Pioneer Day booths like other participants.

Because the current part-time transfer-station employee will move later in July, the board discussed hiring a replacement. Members discussed liability-insurance cost drivers, cash handling (using a locked cash box), the difficulty of low-dollar card transactions, and possible internet requirements at the transfer station. Shawna Grassie moved to post a 30-day job listing (Saturdays 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; Wednesday trash pickup ~2 hours) and the motion passed unanimously.

All motions at the meeting were carried by unanimous voice vote. The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
