Ramah district agrees to install culvert to stop driveway erosion for resident

Resident Linda Burson asked the Ramah Water and Sanitation District at its June 10 meeting for help after drainage from a paved road began washing out her driveway and parking lot.
Burson said the problem started after the road was paved and that standing water often accumulates near one of her gates. The operator, Flint Tietjen, said the district has a culvert that has already been cleaned and that, once the backhoe is repaired, staff and the intern can place the culvert, dig a ditch to carry water past Burson’s property and remove tree stumps if needed to improve flow.
Board members and the resident agreed that because the district will not need to purchase new materials the operator did not think a formal board vote was required. The board asked staff to call utility-locate numbers before digging to avoid damaging underground lines.
The district emphasized the installation is a targeted drainage fix for one property and that curb repairs mentioned during the discussion were lower priority than the culvert and ditch work.
