The Deuel County Board of Equalization approved numerous building value corrections at its July 7, 2026 session, increasing total assessed value countywide from $17,583,812 to $18,976,750, a net change of $1,392,938. Assessor Michele Bartlett presented the parcel‑by‑parcel adjustments, which the board approved on a motion by Commissioner Jean Timm, seconded by Commissioner William Klingman; Chair Jim Reichman and both commissioners voted aye.
The corrections included multiple large adjustments listed in the record; examples include Parcel 684 (building value adjusted from $4,094,465 to $4,503,910, a $409,445 increase) and Parcel 685 (adjusted from $3,503,400 to $3,853,740, a $350,340 increase). Bartlett told the board these changes were made after March 19 to correct errors and reflect more recent information.
County Attorney Jon Stellar said he will prepare and send a settlement letter to Bosselman Motel, Inc. agreeing to the motel’s requested building value based on recent sales information; the minutes note that the TERC (Tax Equalization and Review Commission) matter will be addressed through that settlement. The board also recorded that property valuation protest hearings are scheduled for Monday, July 20, 2026, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Room at the Deuel County Courthouse.
The Board of Equalization convened at 8:35 a.m. as part of the regular July 7 meeting. Commissioners and Assessor Bartlett approved the changes and reconvened the regular meeting at 8:45 a.m. The minutes list each parcel adjustment and the aggregate totals in the official record.
