Bozeman trustees honor teacher Julianne Harris and district SRO team; adopt related resolutions and consent items

The Bozeman School District Board of Trustees adopted several resolutions and approved consent agendas at its Sept. 9 meeting.
The board recognized Julianne Harris, a health enhancement teacher at Emily Dickinson, as the 2024 recipient of the Dave Oberle striving-for-excellence award from SHAPE Montana. A trustee moved a resolution honoring Harris; the motion (moved by Trustee Lucine, seconded by Trustee Black) passed 7-0. Harris said she had been nominated by a colleague and described the application process and the honor of teaching adaptive physical-education students: "I had to get letters of recommendations from our principals and then was selected via our SHAPE board members," she said.
The board also recognized the Bozeman Police Department SRO team as the Jeremy Bullock Memorial Trust's SRO of the Year. Sergeant Scott McCormick introduced SROs Connor Foley, Jeremy Tankink, Harley Barbow and John Ogden and described the team's district partnership. Trustee Black praised the officers' work with students and staff, saying he had "seen you guys through our different meetings and at the schools throughout the years" and expressed appreciation for their daily contributions. Trustee Dee moved the resolution honoring the SRO team; Trustee Reinhart seconded and the motion passed 7-0.
On routine business, the board approved two consent-agenda groupings. Trustee Black moved to approve district consent items 3.1, 3.2 and 3.4; Trustee Wilson seconded and the motion passed 6-0 (one trustee was excused). Trustee Reinhart moved to approve the elementary-district consent agenda item 3.5; the motion was seconded by Trustee Moran and passed 5-0.
All three formal recognition resolutions and both consent motions were approved by the board as recorded on the meeting minutes. No substantive policy changes or budget allocations were adopted during these items; the actions recognized individuals and routine consent items.
The board invited award recipients and SROs to join trustees for photographs following the recognitions.
