After vendor collapse, Coats picks Link2Pump to replace fuel-tracking system

Finance Director Connie Lassiter told the board that the town’s fuel-management provider went out of business and its hardware and software were no longer supported, leaving the town to track fuel manually until a replacement is installed.
Lassiter presented two quotes: QAT estimated $11,722 for equipment and installation and required purchase of a monthly cellular data plan; Link2Pump offered a $5,450 one-time setup fee and a $1,600-per-year software license that includes updates, portal access and a lifetime warranty on controllers. Lassiter told the board the town had previously averaged about $700 per year in repair fees for the old system and had no current cost for a data plan.
Lassiter said the Fire Department was no longer using town fuel tanks because staff could not accurately bill usage. Commissioners discussed accountability and the tradeoffs of using fuel cards. Mayor Pro Tem Marc Powell emphasized the need for a system for accountability; the board voted unanimously to accept the Link2Pump quote and proceed with the purchase.
