Yutan board approves kitchen equipment, Chromebooks and carpet replacement; consent agenda passes

The Board of Education of YUTAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS approved several routine purchases and the consent agenda at its May 11, 2026 regular meeting in the high school media center.
Board President Adam Wacker called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m. and the board unanimously approved the meeting agenda after a motion by Board member Gary Hollst and a second from Board member Judy Daniell.
The consent agenda, which included minutes from the April 13, 2026 meeting and the treasurer’s report and claims, was approved on a 6–0 roll call after a motion from Board member Eric Wilke and a second from Board member Dan Ridder.
Food service equipment: Administration said the district’s School Nutrition Fund balance exceeded the targeted amount required by federal and state audit guidance and that the district had an approved plan from the Nebraska Department of Education to purchase kitchen equipment to meet mandatory account-balance requirements. Board member Judy Daniell moved and Board member Eric Wilke seconded approval of two purchases: $18,096.00 from Webstaurant and $30,418.00 from Nebraska Prep. Both motions passed on 6–0 roll call votes.
Chromebooks: The board approved a technology purchase to replace student Chromebooks for grades 1, 7 and 10, as required by the district’s replacement schedule. Board member Gary Hollst moved and Board member Judy Daniell seconded the purchase of Chromebooks for $65,315.17 from Computer Hardware; the motion carried 6–0.
Carpet replacement: Administration recommended routine replacement of carpet in elementary third-grade classrooms, a small-group room, and high school rooms 117–119. After bids were reviewed, Board member Eric Wilke moved and Board member Bill Hancock seconded acceptance of a $20,785 bid from Kelly’s Carpet to remove and install new carpet and base molding in the listed rooms. The motion passed on a 6–0 roll call.
All votes recorded in the meeting were unanimous (Yes: 6, No: 0). The board concluded its business and adjourned at 7:33 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 8, 2026, at 6:15 p.m. in the high school media center.
