Orland Park residents complain of overnight activity and truck operations at West 183rd business

Several residents of the Preserve at Marley Creek told the Orland Park Village Board on July 20 that activity at a business identified as GT Express at West 183rd has caused persistent noise, parking and safety concerns.
Patricia Stepnich, who said she lives in the neighborhood, told trustees that the business’s published hours are Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but residents have seen employees working on Saturdays and during the early morning, using heavy tools and operating semi-trucks in a 20 mph zone. "They're pulling out, peeling down the street, down 100 and 83rd Street, which is a 20 mile per hour zone," she said, adding that employees have approached children and that residents have filed police reports and provided photos and videos to code enforcement.
Neighbors asked for follow-up enforcement. Village staff and the mayor urged residents to meet with code enforcement staff assigned to the case and said police have been involved, including an investigation that led to a temporary store closure. The board asked staff to brief residents after the meeting and indicated staff will continue to work with police and code enforcement to monitor the site.
Next steps: Staff will provide a briefing to the residents and continue enforcement follow-up; residents were told to continue reporting violations to help code and police enforcement.
