Caribou County adopts sheriff's civil-processing fees and a military leave ordinance

The Caribou County Board of Commissioners adopted two items after consecutive public hearings on June 22.
At 10:01 a.m. the board opened a hearing on Resolution 2026-05 to set civil-processing fees for the Sheriff’s Office. Clerk Jill Stoor told the board the resolution "is to align with state fees." With no public comment, Commissioner Bryce Somsen moved to close the hearing and later moved to adopt the resolution; Commissioner Marty McCullough seconded both motions and the board approved the measure.
Immediately afterward the board held a public hearing on Ordinance 2026-05, an addition to the county employee handbook creating a military leave policy. Stoor said the ordinance "was proposed by the Sheriff and is a Federal requirement with USERRA." Chief Deputy Clerk Tisha Young asked whether the two weeks referenced in the policy would be regular paid time rather than accrued time; the board clarified it will be regular paid time. With no public comment, the board closed the hearing and adopted the ordinance by motion.
Both adoptions were passed by motion and recorded as approved by the board. The clerk will file the adopted documents as part of county records.
