Councilman Dave Kowalski told residents that trick-or-treat in Glassport will be Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., and that the Glassport Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 30 (planned street closures: 5th to 8th Street from 5–7 p.m., and the 400 block of Monongahela Avenue from 5–8 p.m.). He encouraged residents to attend Glassport Development Corp meetings (first Monday of each month) and noted youth-bowling signups at Glassport Lanes.
Councilwoman Meghan DeVerse reported that a PA License to Carry a Firearm satellite event will be held at the Borough Building on Oct. 26 (9 a.m.–3 p.m.), with forms provided by the county, and that McKeesport Ambulance will offer flu shots Oct. 21 from 4–6 p.m. (recipients must present insurance cards).
President Anthony Colecchi said the Giant Eagle Mobile market continues to be “well received,” averaging 20–30 people per week, and introduced representatives from Tree Pittsburgh who were present to update council on their program.
During public comment, resident Mike Tomak of 418 Broadway said he was concerned about the condition of the property at 1010 Vermont Avenue, asserting that occupants were "burning wires and stuff" and that tarps prevented people from seeing what was happening at the site. Betty Kaczka asked what happened to the US Steel money; Borough Manager Elaina Skiba said she would provide Kaczka with a breakdown of how those funds were spent.
