Borough Manager Elaina Skiba told Glassport Borough Council on Nov. 19 that the borough has submitted a $1 million state grant application to the Local Share Account Fund to support continued renovations and updates to municipal facilities. She thanked State Representative Nick Pisciottano for securing $850,000 toward those efforts.
Skiba provided a Land Bank status update listing properties currently on the market — 435 Iowa Avenue, 310 N. Monongahela Avenue, 316 5th Street and 626 Ohio Avenue — and named 401 Euclid Avenue as recently acquired at sheriff sale. She also identified several parcels awaiting sheriff sale, including 843 Delaware Avenue, 319 N. Monongahela Avenue and 311 Euclid Avenue.
The update is part of council’s broader effort to return vacant and blighted properties to productive use. Skiba did not provide a spending breakdown for the requested $1 million grant; she said only that the application is for Local Share Account funds and that the $850,000 secured by Rep. Pisciottano will support continued renovation work on the borough building.
Council did not take a formal vote on the grant application during the meeting. The Land Bank list will inform future sale or rehabilitation efforts and any legal steps needed following sheriff sale timelines.
