The Dickinson County Planning Commission on July 26 voted to recommend approval of CUP 26-09, a conditional-use permit requested by Sunflower Property Rentals LLC to establish a bed-and-breakfast at a site described in the application packet as "generally located at 7682500 Avenue." Staff presented a site plan, said parking meets requirements, and noted the property is served by an on-site septic system that must be verified as functional and adequate.
"Staff is recommending approval with the following conditions," the planning staff member said, listing three conditions: (1) any expansion in the number of bedrooms requires a new conditional-use permit, (2) building additions require building permits, and (3) environmental services must verify the existing 1,000-gallon septic system is sufficient for the proposed use.
Nearby residents spoke during public comment with questions about traffic, gravel road maintenance and the location of the well and septic; none registered formal objections on record at the hearing. After brief discussion a commissioner moved to approve CUP 26-09 with the staff recommendations; the motion was seconded and the commission voted unanimously to forward the recommendation to the county commission.
The planning commission’s recommendation will be transmitted to the Dickinson County Commission; staff said written comments submitted by email would be entered into the record and that further county-level review will follow the mandated notice and appeal periods.
