De Soto council approves design task order with GBA for Riverfest baseball and softball fields

Staff noted Sunflower Redevelopment Group has committed reimbursement for construction costs up to $1,800,000.
During questions council confirmed the fields will be grass (not artificial turf) and that design will consider placement for storage, concession/restroom facilities and possible playground additions. Staff said prefabricated restroom/concession options are being evaluated alongside stick-built approaches and that the design will allow phasing if funding does not cover all amenities immediately.
A councilmember moved to approve the task order and authorize the city manager to sign; the motion carried by roll call.
Staff identified the design fee in meeting materials as $132,820 (the audio read as "$1.32 $8.20" during the presentation); the council authorized the task order but deferred further budget approvals for construction until funding and procurement details are finalized.
