Redington Shores renews attorney contract and approves sheriff services, Everbridge agreement

At its Aug. 14 meeting the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved renewal of the town attorney contract, authorized a Pinellas County Sheriff FY25 ancillary services contract for code enforcement, and approved a memorandum of agreement with the Florida Division of Emergency Management for Everbridge notification services.

Administrator McGlothlin introduced the attorney contract renewal; Commissioner Tom Kapper moved for approval and Vice Mayor Commissioner Licata seconded. Attorney Eschenfelder confirmed the contract was the same document discussed at the workshop; the board approved the renewal unanimously.

On the Pinellas County Sheriff ancillary services contract for FY25, Administrator McGlothlin acknowledged a price increase. Vice Mayor Commissioner Licata moved to approve the contract and Commissioner Erin Schoos seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Mayor Lisa Hendrickson noted the importance of the new code enforcement officer, Steve Klapka, and asked the administrator to consider whether the town should pursue a full‑time, in‑house code enforcement officer in the future. Administrator McGlothlin confirmed Lieutenant Doherty was involved in the transition from the former officer, Danny Doherty.

The board also approved an MOA with the Florida Division of Emergency Management to use Everbridge for emergency notifications; Commissioner Tom Kapper moved and Vice Mayor Commissioner Licata seconded, and the vote was unanimous.

The meeting concluded with announcements of upcoming budget workshops and hearings and commission reports that included a sea‑oat giveaway, the Pinellas County Hurricane Debby recovery report and dune renourishment concerns.
